Can Humans Get Worms From Dogs?

Another type of tapeworm that can infect humans is the flea tapeworm, which is passed to humans from chewing on an infected flea’s poop. When a person eats an infected flea’s feces, tapeworm segments stick to the anal area, allowing them to pass them through the intestine.

This is a very painful infection, and it can make a person’s skin itchy, red, and swollen. It’s best to treat this infection as soon as possible, as it can be a chronic condition.

Can humans get worms through the skin?

Some worms can be caught through the skin, and this is especially common with the hookworm. Typically, it occurs when you come into contact with infected dog poop that has been left on the ground for a few days or if you’re barefoot and walk on contaminated sand or soil.

The hookworms’ larvae then penetrate the skin and migrate under the skin. This is a very itchy and uncomfortable condition that can cause red, swollen, winding tracts to form in the skin.
